Meet Mentor Linda Samuels

Linda Samuels has created Seaside Enterprises.  Her vision is to empower, to inspire, and to change the world, one client at a time.

BillionaireBabies, LLC, was established in 2007 by its current CEO, Linda Samuels.  Linda founded the company to help parents and children develop the skills they need in order to become successful entrepreneurs.  Our plan at BillionaireBabies is to empower children, ages 3-23, with the confidence and the skills to be able to start and maintain their own successful business and so that each child can be the best they can possibly be.  Our program focuses on increasing self-esteem, establishing independence, and learning how to succeed.

 

Linda Samuels is also the CEO of Premier Capital By-the-Sea, LLC, which she founded in 2004. The company’s mission is to create strategic funding solutions for small to middle-sized companies to increase their cash flow and optimize their growth. Premier Capital is a business financing and consulting company specializing in asset-based lending and receivables financing as well as real estate investment.

 

Linda Samuels established The Science of Learning Center in 2001, and is the current CEO.  At the time the company was founded, she was working toward her MBA at Suffolk University.  The company is based on the business experience gained from her degree as well as 30 years of classroom teaching experience where she was renowned for developing a new educational paradigm for teaching science that emphasized the importance of integrating right-brain nonlinear dynamic learning with left-brain linear analytic learning.  Unique to the company is the use of the mc2, a revolutionary electronic device using state-of-the-art neurotechnology to improve concentration and reduce stress.  This division is called Focus Technology.

 

Linda Samuels earned numerous national teaching awards including Distinguished Alumnae Award from the University of Cincinnati, Presidential Award Finalist, and an Award for Excellence in Encouraging Equity.  In Massachusetts, she was awarded Outstanding Biology Teacher and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Science Educators.  She authored several articles as well as the award-winning book, “Girls Can Succeed in Science!”

 

In addition to her MBA from Suffolk University, she holds a Master of Science Degree in Population Genetics as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from the University of Cincinnati.

Meet Mentor – Craig Duswalt

Craig Duswalt is the creator of the RockStar System For Success – How to Achieve RockStar Status in Your Industry.

Craig’s background includes touring with Guns N’ Roses, as Axl Rose’s personal manager, and Air Supply, as the band’s personal assistant.

In his presentations, Craig shares numerous stories of his days with Guns N’ Roses and Air Supply, and behind-the-scenes encounters with some of the biggest names in entertainment; people like Bono, U2, Metallica, Queen, Kurt Cobain, Steven Tyler, Liz Taylor, Liza Minnelli, George Michael, David Bowie, Annie Lennox, Robert Plant, Elton John, Gianni Versace, Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails, Dave Navarro, Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Michael Hutchense, and a bunch more.

Craig combined his backgrounds in both music and marketing, and is now a professional speaker and author, promoting his RockStar System for Success all over the country, teaching entrepreneurs, speakers, authors, coaches and info-marketers how to promote themselves and their business by thinking outside the box at his 3-Day RockStar Entrepreneur Conferences every March and September in Los Angeles.

How To Validate Your Business Idea

As a young entrepreneur, we often feel like we have great ideas. However, fear and the worry that our ideas aren’t so great stop us from ever pursuing them. Instead of giving up on your ideas, there are many different things you can do to validate your business idea.

We are going to share some of the best ways to validate your business idea. Here are a few different ways you can validate your next business idea:

1. Friends & Family

Ask your friends and family to give you an honest opinion on your ideas. Since you should trust these individuals, feel free to go in-depth and share your vision with them. See what points they bring up and carefully note them down. Often times, family & friends may not be the best critiques since they may not want to hurt your feelings.

In hopes of avoiding that, you should really reach out to your friends and families and ask them to be brutally honest. It may hurt at first, but constructive criticism is the best way to validate an idea.

2. Customer Surveys

Before an idea can be turned into a business, you have to figure out a lot of things. One of these things is “Who really is my customer”? Once you have answered that question, go to places where you may run into your prospective customers.

Take a few minutes of their time and survey them asking whether they would use your product, service, or idea in mind. If they say no, simply ask them why not and hear their feedback. If they say yes, ask them how much they would pay and how often they would buy. Learning from your customers themselves is a great way to see how strong your business idea is.

3. Search The Need

All businesses, ideas, products, or services fulfill a need in some way. Your idea is no different. You really need to find a need that you are solving and see how large the opportunity really is.

You can see the opportunities for your business idea by looking through Q/A website, discussion boards, forums, or any other places where people groan about their problems. By doing searches like this, you can see how many people are dealing with the problem and how great a job your product/service does to solve this issue.

4. Trial & Error

No business was perfect the day it launched. The reason you start a business and launch your company is to improve yourself to become the best you possibly can be. If your idea passed the above tests, you should really pursue the business and launch it.
You really find out what everyone thinks of your website the day you launch it. See if your customers are using it, what’s holding them back, and different things you can add to improve it. People love to actually see and use the idea to give feedback.

 Conclusion

Creating a great business takes time and a lot of effort on your part. Do not give up just because your idea doesn’t get the best reviews from day 1. Find ways to improve your idea, business, product, or service to give your customers everything possible.

I’ve spent over three and a half decades of my life studying marketing, sales, management and spiritual pursuits like meditation, visualization and martial arts as well as flying, music, and traveling the world.

Burke Franklin (that’s me) is the founder & CEO of JIAN (jee’-on) Software, a successful Silicon Valley software company renowned for BizPlanBuilder, the popular software system for producing a comprehensive business plan.

I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in business economics, plus a minor in electrical engineering. In my senior year, I started “The Auto Exchange,” a do-it-yourself used car business that I ran from my fraternity apartment. Then I got my first real job as a “field sales engineer” for Texas Instruments selling electronic components. (I actually helped electrical engineers design TI stuff into their products.) Besides working in sales and management for mostly high-tech companies, my career also includes a position as the Electronics Buyer and a copywriter for the Sharper Image Catalog.

Management & marketing experience spans 33 years
The White House Conference on Small Business33 years… OMG! Nevertheless, I do have an extensive background in sales, marketing and management and I only bring a very practical approach to everything I do. In 1995, I was elected to the White House Conference on Small Business where I met with 1,800 other entrepreneurs from across the U.S. to discuss issues every business owner faces and vote so congress could see what was important to us. I can’t tell if they did anything about it… (I very much appreciate the support of the National Association of Women Business Owners who helped elect me.)

Entrepreneur of the YearIn 1996 I was nominated for Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. My assistant Alicia submitted me without me knowing it and I was a finalist amongst the horde. I certainly appreciate the vote of confidence!

In May 1996, and again in 1997, the Brazilian software council flew me to Belo Horizonte, Brazil to teach business planning to Brazilian entrepreneurs! Imagine that boondoggle! Also, since 2000, I have presented an ongoing series called The Thinking Behind Your Business Plan for CEO Space and other entrepreneurial organizations. You can watch it online here.

For what it’s worth, I am an instrument-rated pilot, and a second-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo, so watch out. My book, Business Black Belt draws parallels from the martial arts and teaches you about building and running a business by using the teachings from hundreds of “personal development” workshops. That means if you get knocked down 7 times, you need to get up 8, but I’ll teach you some tricks to turn the tables in your favor.
